While only 40 minutes to the beaches and resorts of San Carlos, Ciudad Obregon enjoys a mild dry climate with an average annual temperature of 76 degrees and rainfall of 14.5 inches. And with a low crime rate, it is considered a very livable city and a safe place to raise a family. Established industries such as textiles, electronic components, digital imaging, call/help centers, telecommunication and software help stabilize the local economy resulting in a very low turnover rate (<2%).
And the education system is first rate. There are 6 major public and private universities and 4 technical schools in the area graduating over 700 software engineers and technicians annually (includes Hermosillo, a 2 hour drive north of Obregon). English is taught on the college campuses and is spoken in most hotels and restaurants throughout the city. |
